What’s Trending in Franchising

When choosing a franchise business for yourself, consider which industries are seeing growth, such as child enrichment.

Franchising is big business. According to the International Franchise Association (IFA), “franchise growth exceeded projections for 2024….forecasts that franchises will grow an additional 2.4% in 2025.”

The IFA’s Economic Outlook estimates that the number of franchise establishments will increase by 20,000 units and that franchising will add over 200,000 jobs. And, “total franchise output is projected to exceed $936.4 billion in 2025, increasing by 4.4%, from $896.6 billion, in 2024.”

On the Franchise Business Review’s “Top 200 Franchises for 2025” there are several brands offering “child enrichment” services.

At Sticky Fingers Cooking, we’ve managed to combine elements from two multi-billion dollar industries: franchising and a proven, scalable after-school enrichment business.

Sticky Fingers Cooking Math Lesson

After-school enrichment (ASE) is not childcare; it is structured time after the traditional school day for children to learn new skills and develop interests in activities. In many surveys this is included in “care” after school.

A Market Research analysis of “after school care market” found that, “Enrichment Programs, with a 10% market share, include STEM Activities, Language Learning, and Social Skills Development. These programs are gaining traction as they offer specialized skills that are increasingly valued in today's society.” Verified Market Research states that the “after school care market” is expected to grow to $49.5 billion by 2031.

Putting the STEAM in STEM Learning

If you have kids, you have probably heard of STEM education which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEAM learning is the same with Arts added. Sticky Fingers Cooking offers STEAM-based learning, and this is important to know because there appears to be an increasing demand for STEM and STEAM education in franchising. Archive Market Research’s 2025, “Child Education Franchise Analysis Report,” found that among emerging trends in child education franchise there is a “focus on skill development” and “growing popularity of STEM education.”

In our cooking classes, kids learn history, geography, science, math, and much more depending on the recipe. There are also opportunities for taking a summer camp, not just going after school, and our classes can be held at other venues like recreation center and public libraries.
